
Born in Kenya, Ian has had a wide and varied life. Whist managing a cattle ranch near Tsavo, he introduced and started to develop a 5,000 acre Jojoba project. From there, he moved to the Kenyan coast where he spent five years working as the sisal manager, followed by 11 years at Kisima Farm in Timau as workshop manager. Ian moved to Portugal for ten years growing vegetables for the UK market and maintaining smart irrigation systems in Portugal, Spain, UK and Kenya before returning to Kenya in 2013. He worked for Eastern Produce, a large multinational company based in Nandi Hills as workshop and factory maintenance manager on their 1,500 hectares of tea plantations and seven factories. Ian has joined the Loisaba team in charge of maintenance of the Conservancy, looking after 27 staff in the workshop, building, road and fencing teams.
